What Is Advocacy?
Advocacy support enables individuals or groups to speak up for themselves. An advocate promotes the views and rights of the individual even if they are unable to do so themselves.
An advocate will:
- Work towards empowering people to speak for themselves
- Protect the rights of the individual
- Help to write letters or make phone calls on behalf of the individual
- Representation or support at meetings and tribunals
- Help you to make complaints about poor service or defective goods
- Help you to make an informed choice
- Help you to access services you may need or require
Service Provision
Wirral Mind has an established equal opportunities policy which applies to all users of its' services.
Wirral Mind's Advocacy Service is non judgemental and all issues that are discussed with the advocate are dealt with on a strictly confidential basis.
The individual remains in total control of their case and the Advocate will only act on the direct instructions given by the individual.
Anyone who feels that they / or someone they know, could benefit from having an advocate can refer. Please ask the person if they mind you contacting us before you get in touch with the advocate.
