Our trainers
are in the community! The seemingly endless range of different scrap materials ensures infinite possible activities. Whether working with one class or the entire school we welcome any challenge you wish to present us. We now offer schools the opportunity to bring a class to the Scrapstore for workshops.
Bring stories to life with the help of scrap. Make Gruffalo puppets and scenery to retell the story again and again. Wild Things become a reality with the weird and wonderful resources. The Lighthouse Keeper can have somewhere to have his lunch.
Ever wondered which material would make the best waterproof coat for teddy or best surface for a race track? Design and build a car out of scrap then predict, test and record the results of bubble wrap, sand paper, felt, kite fabric etc.
Travel back in time and use your knowledge and understanding to create historical costumes and props. Make an Egyptian death mask or Medieval knight's outfit complete with your own personal heraldry.
Explore the world and its many cultures. Make traditional masks from Mexico or Africa, build a dragon the celebrate Chinese New Year or a flamboyant headdress for Mardi Gras.
Help brighten up your school both inside and out with a mural, whether to complement a topic or welcome visitors.
As a fun and exciting alternative to a field trip workshops can fit within the term's topic, global week, production preparations or as a celebration of the end of term, year or SATs. Whatever the theme we emphasise the environmental aspect of reusing materials that would otherwise go to landfill.
If you would like to arrange a workshop or discuss an idea or please contact Jane by email or call the Scrapstore on 01249 730011.
