| The Isle of Skye-based Peatbogs have been firm festival favourites for many years and are pioneers of Celtic Fusion. They have wowed capacity audiences each time they have played at the Trades. Rooted in traditional Celtic music, they create kaleidoscopic soundscapes that arise from aligning bagpipes, whistles and fiddles with a blistering rhythm section and programmed effects. The result evokes an irresistible urge to dance. They won Best Live Band at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards last year, and are not to be missed. |

| Lorelei Loveridge | ||
| Lorelei Loveridge lived for 11 years in Saudi Arabia, pre and post 9/11, and loved it. She experienced religious zealots, compound invasions, a terrorist chase, earthquake, tsunami, war in Lebanon, crazy drivers, nutty expats and more, and survived to tell the tales in story and song. Her physical, personal, and musical journey is documented in Bakhoor, a 4-year, 15-song album project recorded in India, Canada and Saudi Arabia. It features some of the finest players from across the globe including Brian Hughes (producer of Loreena McKennitt), Harry Manx and Lester Quitzau. A contemporary acoustic songwriter who draws comparisons with Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell, Loveridge pairs a passionate Trades-like political sense with an understanding of the complex personal stories that go beyond politics." |

| Pineapple Folk present Jeffrey Lewis & the Junkyard | ||
| New Yorker Jeffrey Lewis is an antifolk singer-songwriter and comic book artist. We are delighted to be able to welcome him and his band to the Trades; he has been selling out much larger venues in the UK. His latest album, “’Em Are I” is a collection of ramshackle tales of romance and existential worry, following on from 2007’s “12 Crass Songs”, a radical reworking of the anarchist punk band’s output, sweetly arranged for acoustic guitar and vocals. His live shows incorporate his illustrations to some of his songs. Check out his website, watch the video of the bizarre Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror, then buy your tickets online from We Got Tickets – at members’ or non-members’ prices. |

| Amy Wadge + Pete Riley | ||
| Amy was part of the outburst of welsh music in the mid nineties. The Welsh music scene launched some of the huge 'indie' bands that emerged from the country during the late nineties; The Manics, The Phonics, Catatonia and The Super Furries, etc. Their success was potent, the optimism, infectious and Cardiff became a hugely dynamic music city. Her debut mini album The Famous Hour lead to her being asked to perform at BBC6 Music’s launch night. Also on the bill that night were The Stereophonics, Embrace, Pete Yorn and Lenny Kravitz. Rumours soon started flying, with speculation in the Welsh press that Amy was about to succeed Cerys Matthews, fronting Catatonia. None of this speculation was true but ironically Aled Richards, Catatonia's drummer, was soon to join Amy's band. Later that year, Amy appeared at the Cambridge Folk Festival, took Brittany's Interceltic Festival by storm ('The Voice of her generation - a star is born' - Ouest-France), and was voted, Best Female Solo Artist at the 2002, Welsh Music Awards, beating Charlotte Church. Prestigious support spots followed, including opening for Van Morrison, Damien Rice, two tours with Eric Bibb and ultimately, the entire Jeff Beck UK tour. 2003 also saw Amy take the Best Female Solo title at the Welsh Music Awards, for the second year running, this time ahead of Cerys Matthews. After a spell with Hummingbird and a baby Amy is back touring. Amy also writes for and with other artists including Marti Pellow, Chris Difford, Henry Priestman, Guy Batson, Amy Nuttel, Jade Gallagher and Lucinda Belle. A number of other artists have also released songs by Amy during 2008. Pete Riley is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Liverpool, signed to Atlantic records with his band Treehouse, who relocated to the USA in 1997, Treehouse played with numerous bands whilst in the USA, these included "Hootie and The Blowfish" Hobex, Drivin 'n' Cryin, Toad The Wet Sprocket, and last but not least Edwin McCain Band to name a few. . . Treehouse split up in 2000 after one final tour in the U.K. opening for The Cranberries, Pete was then asked to join platinum selling American artist Edwin McCain Band and has been a touring member of the band since 2000, Pete has also co-written Edwin McCains last 3 studio albums, and has recently been writing and working on new projects with Henry Priestman (The Christians), Amy Wadge, Jade Gallagher and Garry Christian. To date Pete is in the middle of an acoustic tour accompanying Henry Priestman on guitar and backing vocals. |
