Baltimore Oriole
Icterus galbula
Oxford, Oxfordshire - 10 January 2004

Having enjoyed the thrill of some dirty twitching last weekend in Grimsby, I couldn't resist the lure of this gem. This first-winter male Baltimore Oriole took to suburban living in a group of Oxford gardens. It lived on a diet of sunflower hearts and orange juice it sipped from the fresh half oranges put out by one resident.

Having seen the many stunning pics on the web, my heart sank when I arrived at the site - dark grey clouds and no bloody light! So I am really chuffed to get these two snaps.
