Common Guillemot
Uria aalge
Dog-in-a-Doublet sluice, River Nene, Cambs.
24 September 2002

The River Nene is tidal almost to the very heart of the PBC area, its advance stopped only by the sluice at Dog-in-a-Doublet. The tidal sequence is responsible for many a bird and seal (and even dolphin) to appear this far upstream.

This Guillemot was found by RSPB Assistant Warden Jonny Taylor on the afternoon that I had driven twice past the sluice!
