This bird shows many of the characteristics of the Continental race sinensis, including the extensive white in the head, gular patch and large white thigh patch.

I was quite pleased with this shot, as although it was a very bright day it was blowing an absolute hoolie and by getting the tripod and scope as low as possible and taking what shelter I could behind a small bush, I managed to get some sharp shots as the bird swayed to and fro in the wind.
