Corn Bunting
Miliaria calandra
Farcet Fen, Huntingdonshire - 29 May 2003

This Corn Bunting, an unpaired male, took up residence in the garden for a month. Each morning I woke to its jingling song which it delivered from the top of one of the garden bushes or the overhead telephone line.

It fed with the other birds on the drive, taking solely wheat from the my farmland bird seed mix I use on the ground.
