The Fens hold a small breeding population of the rare, but stunning, Black-tailed Godwit - one of my favourite waders. They spend most of their time either too distant to photo or hidden from view in the long, lush grass meadows of the washes. Like many of the washland waders, they do have a habit of standing on the drove-side fence posts, which with a little stealth to get within a digiscoping range, can get some great results. The uniformity of the flat washes and sky help to provide uncluttered backdrops for such photos.
