Large Red-eyed Damselfly
Erythromma najas
Woodwalton Fen NNR, Cambridgeshire

Until recently, Large Red-eyed Damselfly was the only member of the family Erythromma to occur in Britain. In 2000, Small Red-eyed Damselfly was discovered in East Anglia, presumably having colonised from the near Continent.

Large Red-eyed Damselfly is a species of open water, where the males habitually rest on floating vegetation.
