Clouded Yellow
Colias croceus
Hampton, Peterborough - 21 August 2002

Early morning birding in the warm sun - lovely. But with no hint of any butterfly migration in recent days, I was amazed that by 8 o'clock I seemed to have happened upon an arrival of these migrant butterflies, with at least 15 seen within an hour at two adjacent sites around the Hamptons, Peterborough.

The sight of a Clouded Yellow anywhere is always special, but this far inland, and in such good numbers, it is something really special.
