PINOT GRIGIO,
Willowood 2005 (California, U.S.A) (13%) £14.25
Blended with a small portion of Colombard, this clean, crisp and dry
Pinot Grigio has a fruity nose of peaches and pears. Well balanced and
medium bodied with a pleasant aftertaste.
INZOLIA DI
SICILIA, Caleo 2006 (Sicily)
(12%) £16.00
The Inzolia,
straw yellow in colour, has a spicy, aromatic character on the nose that
gives way to a rich, rounded fruit on the palate. It is refreshing and
individual.
Though modern in style, the clarity of the fruit retains a distinctly
Sicilian character.
CHARDONNAY SEMILLON,
Tiger Hill 2006 (India)
(13%) £16.75
A 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Semillon, this delicious Indian wine has
an
aromatic nose of peach and citrus - a zesty character. The vineyards
established in the 19th Century in Kashmir and elsewhere were devastated
by
phylloxera by
1890 and Chateau Indage has been instrumental in restoring them to their
former glory. The Sahayadri Valley is now
regarded as a
top class vineyard and Tiger Hill is a
very good quality wine range.
SAUVIGNON BLANC,
Fernleaf 2006 (New Zealand) (12.5%) £18.00
A classic NZ SB! Grassy with citrus and melon characteristics on the
nose and palate, fruity on the finish.
GEWURZTRAMINER,
Gustave Lorentz 2005 (France) £19.25
Classic Vin D’Alsace wine; spicy aroma with a ripe peach and lychee
fruit component, medium dry with good fruit and a clean, crisp finish.
The ideal match for seafood, game, cheese or anything that’s lightly
spicy.
CHENIN BLANC, Hope
Marguerite 2007 (South Africa)
(13.5%)
£22.00
Barrel fermented. This great food wine has a fresh green glint, with
dried apricot, green melon and cinnamon spice on the nose. It displays
hints of green apple and almond on mid-palate. Well-integrated oak with
limey freshness and a lingering rich finish.
DRY RIESLING,
Leasingham 2005 (Australia) (13.5%) £25.00
A truly modern, dry Riesling - oh so trendy! A zingy wine with lime and
grapefruit flavours. This superb 2005 vintage was commended at the 2006
Decanter World Wine Awards.
CHABLIS,
J. Moreau & Fils 2006 (France) (12.5%) £28.00
Very dry and
crisp wine with good, green apple fruit and acidity that is excellent
with seafood.
SANCERRE,
Domaine Des Grosses Pierres 2006 (France) (12.5%) £30.50
Moreau’s
Sancerre is very fresh and fragrant with that typical hint of
“gun-flint”. Highly respected and not widely available.
