All members of the teaching staff hold the mandatory specialist qualification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired. Teachers are involved in national and local educational meetings as an important aspect of staff development. Members of our highly trained and experienced staff contribute to the training of:

Staff also advise QCA (Qualifications Curriculum Authority) and GCSE examination boards on the production of Braille and large print test papers.
Our Care Staff hold recognised qualifications in residential care. Learning Support Assistants and Care Staff are able to study NVQ Level 3.
Our mobility staff are fully qualified Mobility Officers, who also provide an induction programme to help new staff understand the mobility aspects of visual impairment.
Regular whole school In Service Training covers new DfES initiatives as well as low vision awareness, additional disabilities, Health and Safety issues, raising pupil achievement, and effective teaching. These are delivered both in-house and by outside agencies.
St Vincent's has an ongoing commitment to staff training and development. All staff are encouraged to identify relevant courses and conferences to promote their individual professional development and to enhance the School Development Plan
