In the P.E. Department we aim to cover a broad range of physical activities. We follow the National Curriculum Programmes of Study. Our approach is positive, caring, hard working and good humoured.

We seek to identify individual pupil needs, recognise strengths and weaknesses and endeavour to assist individuals to maximise their full potential.

We recognise the importance of developing and promoting personal aspects such as independence, social skills, self-esteem, team spirit, physical skill, relaxation and a sense of achievement.

Pupils at St Vincent's frequently participate, and sometimes excel, in a variety of nationally recognised sports and activities.

At National level we compete annually in the visually impaired Championships for Soccer, Swimming and Athletics. St Vincent's students have been selected to represent their country in a variety of International Sporting Events.

Locally, we join in annual Merseyside Athletic and Swimming Competitions. We help organise and attend after school Club Activity sessions at the Greenbank Sports academy in Liverpool and have sporting links with both special and mainstream schools.

The residential component of our Outdoor and Adventurous Activities course is based at the specialist Calvert Trust Activity Centre in the Lake District. Each year our Year 8 pupils benefit from this exciting opportunity.

St Vincent's has a history of hosting and organising International Summer Events. These occasions have brought together visually impaired young adults from Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Rumania and England and have provided unique opportunities and challenges for all participants.

The P.E. Department and pupils of St Vincent's are proud of their sporting involvement and achievement.
