Lay out the pitch as shown. The two circles are Cones.
Player A starts with the ball. He plays it to player B, who then plays it back
to Player A. Once player B has played the ball, he makes a run round one cone and down the wing.
Player A plays the ball to Player B on the wing and then makes a run to attack the goal.
Player B crosses the ball for Player A to finish.
Points to watch:
- The ball down the wing should be ahead of the winger - toward the by-line if possible
- The cross should be toward the right area of the goalmouth (between the six yard box and the penalty spot)
- The runner should go around the cone
- Player A's run to goal should be curved rather than direct
- The run to the goal mouth shold be timed to meet the ball as the cross arrives - not too early or too late
The drill can be progressed by including a goalkeeper and/or defender.
