Emmaus House of Prayer
If there is anyone you would like to be prayed for in the House of Prayer, please click here to send an e-mail, giving as few or as many details as you wish. Please put "Prayer Request" as the subject.
first work of a House of Prayer is the worship and praise of God, Father,
Son and Holy Spirit. It is also a place where the presence of God is
sought through meditation and contemplation, and where intercession is
made for all sorts of people and situations.
House is run as a ‘mini-monastery’. In the Chapel, throughout the
daytime, formal prayer such as Morning or Evening prayer and the Eucharist
take place. There are also opportunities for informal prayer. Silence –
an essential component – allows visitors space for reflection and
meditation. There is time too for study, reading and work such as
gardening and cleaning.
is for anyone who thinks that they may benefit in any way at all from a
visit. While Fr Philip is the only permanent resident, there are two guest rooms
– a double and a single – for visitors who wish to stay overnight or a
few days. Some may want to organise a time of retreat or simply a quiet
and undemanding situation in which they can grapple with a problem or a
decision needing to be made. Some may want just some peace and quiet – a
breathing space. The House is here for all these reasons.
you would like to arrange a visit, however long, or would like further
information, please contact Fr Philip at the House of Prayer on (01604) 627669.
He would also be very happy to answer any queries that you may have.
