The Winchester Passion Event: The Winchester Passion
Client: Winchester Churches
Venue: Winchester (Various outdoor sites)

To provide sound reinforcement for a drama production of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ 2000 years ago.

An outdoor event staged in four different locations throughout Winchester town centre on Good Friday evening 2008. Approximately 10000 – 12000 people attended the event.

Event Solution

  • Four different sound systems in each of the four locations. First area was a system to cover a large park area, second was a distributed sound system around the law courts, third sound system was in the high street and the forth was to cover the area in front of Winchester cathedral.
  • A total of 60 Radio Microphones were used throughout the production. Which included headset radio microphones for actors, through to hand held’s for performers.
  • Event was being relayed to big screens at each area. Sound feeds were sent and received at each area via microwave radio.
  • Sound feeds were also given to the local BBC radio station for broadcast.
