The Hands Rochester Volunteer Bureau recruits volunteers on behalf of charitable, voluntary and statutory bodies who have requested our assistance to find volunteers. To get a flavour of some of the opportunities available please go to the National Volunteering Database at www.do-it.org.uk. We also have other opportunities available on record in the bureau, please contact us for further information.
In addition to recruiting volunteers for other organisations the bureau also operates some directly managed services all of which require volunteers to provide the service. The following schemes are always in need of volunteers:
Transport Scheme-drivers with a clean licence and own car to provide transport for people who have difficulty using public transport.
Befriending Scheme-Kind hearted volunteers to visit the lonely and housebound to provide contact and friendship.
Gardening and DIY Schemes-require gardeners and DIYers to assist those unable to do the work themselves and who cannot afford professional labour.
Office Workers-The HANDs office is always in need of office staff to organise and record all the work that we do, so, if you have any skills from pencil sharpening to IT manager we have a place for you.
Lunch Club- Our fortnightly lunch club for the elderly, held at Harrow Court In Lordswood, needs cooks and other helpers.
H.E.L.P.(Help, Experience,Learn,Progress) Scheme-If you suffer from a physical disability a mental health problem or learning difficulties and feel uncertain about undertaking voluntary work we run a scheme which is designed to find the right volunteering opportunity for you and which will offer you ongoing support.
If you see anything which appeals to you or you require further information then please Contact Us.
