Meet the Pipe Dreams members

Jetting in from Blandford, sneaking a thrash on the congas, Andy's first love is djembe. One of the original Pipe Dreams Trio his sensitive, listening drumming supports and embellishes who ever he is accompanying, that rare sort of drummer you find yourself asking to push up the volume. Catch him on the Pipe Dreams Trio's CD That'll Do.

Jazz saxophonist, Clive plays tenor and alto sax, here taking time out from his Southampton based quartet, Frayed Knot, to join the ranks of Pipe Dreams. He specialises in complex, flowing improvisations which ride over the rhythmic barrage below. Catch him on Frayed Knot's latest CD Fathers' Footprints.

Didgeridoo man George learnt the business as a crazy improvising trombonist. Dropping his much loved bone and jazz in Clive's Frayed Knot to concentrate on running Pipe Dreams. Howling, screeching and tooting in knotty rhythms he honks through, adding a little conch and percussion to taste. A keen busker, George can be heard strutting his stuff around the local bazaars both solo and with Vince.

Jerry rests his fiddle to take the role of anchor man in Pipe Dreams. They don't come louder than this one when he lays into those congas, bongos, bougarabou or the djembe. Long time associate of Mesha, they thrash it out like a well oiled machine. His rock solid beat brings some order to the excesses of the rest of the crew.

Always playing to the crowd, Mesha loves to dance as he thrashes out the heavy vibes. Pictured here kneeling for the cameras while working the bougarabou. Space conga and timba bongos are his other skins. Pipe Dreams was born one sweaty December night in a cafe as we blew didge riffs over his assembled drumming chaos.

Caught here blowing flute on his sax microphone, Bournemouth based Mike is a keen improvising musician, an ex-Jazzer with a real flare for the uncharted waters of Pipe Dreams. He is a multi-instrumentalist majoring on his trusty flutes but now adding alto sax, conches, vocals, drums and percussion. An enthusiastic master of the genre, you never quite know where he's coming from next.
Catch him on the Brigitte Bardot's Cat CD Moins est Plus

Phil abhors loud, then out comes that Selmer tenor with its ear splitting honking and hooting. A dedicated improvising performer, Phil struts as he blows complex riffs on his creation the flax, a sax/flute hybrid with its eerie eastern haunt. Man of many odd drums and rattly things he is in his element during the gentler moments, notably on his cherished bird whistle. Catch him on the Flax Quartet CD
Chessel Recordings.

Mr Didgeridoo Portsmouth, artist, inventor, meddler and all round nutter, Vince poses with one of his more outrageous creations. In Pipe Dreams his latest is the unique Rag Dung a Tibetan horn turned didge with the addition of a few vacuum cleaner parts. No, don't ask! But as with all Vince's creations it sounds great and that's what matters in Pipe Dreams. Sitting cross legged he is the comfort zone creator way down there in the basement.
