The
KENSINGTON KOAN |
| Lilian Lijn is internationally recognised for her work as a kinetic light artist and has designed an exciting new sculpture which will illuminate skies above No 2 Kensington Park Road in Notting Hill Gate. |
| The Kensington Koan is a kinetic work in the form of a cone six metres high and 4 metres base diameter, painted in many coloured concentric bands. The cone is dissected by 4 elliptical rings of light. At night these rings will appear as oscillating lines of light moving through the body of the cone. |
| The bands of light speak of layered strata. They suggest earth, sea and air and the atmospheric striations of heavenly bodies. The Koan speaks of change and renewal, trnsforming itself with the changing light of day and noght througout the seasons. |
