a wide range of sizes and types of hard drive available,
in general there are two types IDE or SATA connections,
with spindle speeds ranging from 5400 rpm to 10000 rpm,
it isn't uncommon to have hard drives installed in
systems with capacities that exceed 500 GB' s
IDE or ATA
drives are slowly becoming obsolete being replaced by
faster SATA drives
