Threats to the Norland Conservation Area It may be helpful to summarise, for those that support the work of the Norland Conservation Area, some of the concerns that its Executive Committee discuss regularly and urgently at its meetings, and take action on where possible and appropriate, and believe are the most important in terms of  threats to the area:

*rat run traffic through the area,
*the impact from the potential  traffic and parking problems which may be  caused by the development of the White City site and its impact on traders  and local shops on Holland Park Avenue,
*the impact of the plan for London and of the Mayor's Congestion Charge,
*restaurants encroaching onto pavements to extend their dining space,
*planning applications that are inappropriate  and unsympathetic to  the  Conservation area,
*cutting down of trees.
A historical record of the area: In 2009 the Norland Conservation Society produced an interesting document entitled "Norland - A Historical Perspective" recording the changes that had taken place in the conservation area since 1969 and some of the challenges for the future.
If you have any information about the Norland Conservation Area that you think may be of general interest to others living in the area please let us know and we can consider putting it on this web site.
Property alterations: Don't forget that if you intend to make alterations to any property in the Norland Conservation Area you may need first to obtain planning permission from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You can contact the Council's Planning Department by telephone: 020-7361 3012 or by E-mail: planning@rbkc.gov,uk
