NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS

1 Subscriptions. The total for the year is similar to that for 2002, although this year all receipts have been taken into income, with no deferral of subscriptions covering more than one year. Subscriptions include a claim for Gift Aid of £219, which was included in debtors and collected in February 2004.
2 Bank interest. Interest on both accounts was £78, down from £124 in 2002. This reflects the low interest rate environment that we are currently facing.
3 St James’ Church. The Society has continued to support St James’ Church and again contributed £120 towards the lighting in the tower.
4 Newsletter. The Society decided to maintain the funds spent on printing and stationery, thus keeping the quality of the newsletter and other publications at a high standard.
5 Donation. A large donation of £1,750 was received from Stark Films in compensation for late night filming in Queensdale Road.
6 Financial position. Income exceeded expenditure before taking account of the donation by £429, and after including the donation by £2,179. The Society considers that the balance of the General Fund of £12,972 is adequate for the Society’s purposes.

Report of the Hon. Auditor: I have examined the attached statement of the General Fund as at 31 December 2003 and statement of Income and Expenditure for the year ended on that date, and certify that these statements have been properly drawn up in accordance with the books and records of the Norland Conservation Society.
