Getting involved

Home Thursday Action Group Volunteers
  • MVCP runs a number of schemes that allow you to get out and enjoy the countryside, while working for the benefit of both wildlife and the community. Our Thursday Action Group is a dedicated team who carry out projects ranging from building pond dipping platforms, surveying wildlife, to managing scrub along public rights of way.

  • So if you want to learn new skills, meet like minded people, and enjoy the outdoors, come and join in. To find out more about an enjoyable and healthy day out, contact our Volunteer co-ordinator, on 01622 683695. We pick up at a number of places in and around Maidstone and will keep you going with tea, biscuits and plenty of encouragement.

River Warden Volunteers

  • In addition to the TAG we also need new and enthusiastic River Wardens along the whole of the Medway. We'll provide you with the equipment - such as wildlife recording forms, litter pickers and bags etc. and via occasional events and voluntary participation in training, we'll also give you the expertise. It's a great way to get out and about and learn more about wildlife whilst keeping your area tidy.

  • Recent River Warden events included an evening walk with Halling Cubs. Young people and staff from the group joined MVCP staff for a litter picking and wildlife recording evening around Halling marshes. As well as collecting three bags of rubbish the young people got to listen to and observe bats in the early evening.

  • If you would like to become a River Warden please contact us on 01622 683695.
