Media Moulding Technology Ltd, “MMT”, the custom injection moulders based in Bridgend, South Wales have reached agreement with Nordic Industries SIA in Latvia to join their
European Plastic Industries, “EPI”, in a joint venture. The joint venture is located on the Nordic Industrial Park in Olaine, about 25 kms outside of Riga which is rapidly becoming one of the leading industrial developments in the Baltic States and on which are already sited
several major manufacturing operations in plastics, metal fabrication and food products.
Jim Dimmock, MMT Group Managing Director signed the agreement in Riga on 8 March
2001 with Daumants Vitols, President of EPI and Director of Nordic Industries. In confirming the announcement Spencer Lewis,
Managing Director of MMT’s Bridgend operation, stated “The Latvian facility will add an additional dimension to MMT’s continuing development. In addition to maintaining business with UK customers looking for ever lower costs it will
enable MMT to break into new markets in the Baltic States,
Scandinavia, the FSU and the EU. In the gloom of UK’s manufacturing economy, we are all very excited as we will now be able to see new projects realised through development production in Wales to full scale, long term manufacturing in Latvia.”
Steve Millard, MMT’s Technical Director added “For some time now we have been seeing manufacturing of products which we have brought from conception to production move away. We are now confident that the product development, technical project management and manufacturing that we offer in Wales will be followed up by full scale, longer term, highly competitive production.”
