Ratcliffe College:

Ratcliffe College

Ratcliffe College offers a balanced all-round day and boarding education to boys and girls aged 3-18. There are good class sizes, well-resourced classrooms, high academic standards, excellent pastoral care, a full extra-curricular programme and an extended school day. Whilst it is a Catholic school, Ratcliffe welcomes children from other denominations.

Location and Facilities:

Set on a superb 100 acre campus, Ratcliffe College has easy, congestion-free access on the A46, 7 miles north of Leicester. Our modern facilities, elegant buildings and attractive grounds provide many opportunities for our boys and girls to develop their sporting, cultural and artistic talents.

Academic Achievement:

Academic standards are high. Our 2007 A Level results were among the highest on record and the GCSE results were the best ever, with 43% A* and A grades and 95% of students achieving at least 5 subject passes at grade C or better. Academic achievement is always paramount, but personal fulfilment and growth through a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities are also of fundamental importance. All-round excellence in the education provided is our objective.

Sport and Music:

Ratcliffe is proud of its sporting tradition. Our spacious grounds and enviable specialist facilities, including a modern Sports Centre, floodlit all-weather pitch and indoor swimming pool, enable a variety of sports to be available. Our Music Department has specialised teaching rooms; musical groups, such as the Choir, Orchestra and Brass Ensemble, perform at concerts and also play a valuable part in our dramatic productions.

Boarding Facilities:

Separate Girls' and Boys' Boarding Wings are located in the main College building. In recent years the accommodation has been upgraded to a high standard. Year 11 and Sixth Form boarders have single bedrooms, while younger students are in rooms of two or three.

Academic Support:

We offer arrangements for specialist tuition to our overseas students for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL). This is provided by specialist teachers and students are taught in small groups.

Number of Sixth Formers: 131
