"Hello,
I'm Mrs.E.Morgan and was browsing through the photo album of the orpheus choir and you were asking for info about them. I was born and brought up in Somerset St,right opposite where the Primitive Methodist chapel used to be,and I happen to possess some photos of the choir as my father was a member for many years. The 2nd photograph where the guest artists are standing in front of the choir I believe was taken about 1945-50 in Ebebezer chapel, My father Cliff Samuel is 5th on the left in the middle row, I recognised David & Desmond Emmanuel on the left at the back row and Ron Protheroe 2nd right in the front. Mr.Frank Evans was on the left of the guests he was a pianist and next to him was Mr & Mrs.James who were the conductors at that time, I can't remember who the singers were or the gentleman on their right but Trevor Wilde was on the far right. I sang as a guest artist with them myself a number of times together with Donald Ashman from Sixbells when we were about 17 yrs old, we had some good times. I haven't been to Abertillery for many years I now live in Portsmouth, but I enjoyed growing up there and my children always wanted to spend most of their holidays there with my parents,we had many a good outing with the choir then and it's great that they are still going strong. All the best to them for the future and hope they'll go on for many years.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs.E.Morgan"

Mrs Eve Morgan of Portsmouth shares some further photographs of choir yesteryear. See if you can help us by providing any information you can
on when they were taken and where!

"I was pleased to receive your reply to my e.mail, I have 4 copies apart from the one we already mentioned,I have scanned them, they are not marvellous as you can imagine having been around for about 60 yrs. Two are of the complete choir one is of the stewards as you can see by the badges and the other one is taken at the eistedfordd, the young boy with the programme on the left is my brother and the girl on the right is my cousin who still lives in Abertillery Mrs. Terry Williams of Cwm Cottage Road. I think they were all taken round about 1945-50"
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Eve Morgan"
