The
Shop at Wharf Cottage, Bradford on Avon
Located
on the north side of the canal just 100 yards east of Bradford Lock
and the Frome Road bridge, this former lock-keeper's cottage
is now a shop and tearoom operated by the Kennet and Avon Canal
Trust. Visitors can sit out in the award-winning gardens of the
cottage and enjoy splendid views of Bradford Wharf.
On sale: Canal-related books,
magazines, maps, souvenirs and gifts. Hot and cold drinks, snacks,
cakes and pastries. Ice creams and sweets.
You can also buy tickets for trips on the Trust's
wide-beam trip-boat, the 'Barbara

How to Find Us:
From the centre of Bradford on Avon, head in a southerly direction
along the A363 Frome Road. After about half a mile, the road crosses
the canal. Pedestrians can turn left immediately before that bridge
and walk along the paved path beside the lock. The Wharf Cottage
is 100 yards ahead. There are public toilets 50 yards beyond the
shop/tearoom. If driving, cross over the canal, continue to the
next mini-roundabout, turn left into Moulton Drive, cross over the
canal and immediately turn left into Baileys Barn. At the far end
of Baileys Barn is a public car park with easy access to the Wharf
and the Wharf Cottage gardens.

The Shop at The Canal Centre, Devizes
Wharf
Devizes Wharf is off Couch Lane, within easy walking
distance of the centre of Devizes and the famous Caen Hill Flight
of 29 locks. The Shop is operated by the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust
which also has its Headquarters within the Canal Centre.
On sale: Canal-related books,
magazines, maps, souvenirs and gifts. Cold drinks, ice creams and
sweets.Painted canal-ware a speciality. Mail-order service available.
The shop also provides access to the Canal Museum,
a widely acclaimed canal museum telling the history of the Kennet
and Avon Canal and its restoration by the Trust. Follow the link

How to Find Us:
From the Market Place, head in a northerly direction along Snuff
Street. Cross over New Park Street at the pedestrian crossing and
straight into Couch Lane. The Wharf entrance is 150 yards on the
left. Free on-street parking can be found in nearby streets or there
are pay-and-display car parks at the Canal Centre and at the Wharf
Car Park behind the town's Police Station (also on New Park
Street).

The Shop and Engineman's Rest Café at Crofton Pumping Station
The Trust's shop and café are within the Pumping
Station co-located with the ticket office.

The Shop at The Stone Building, Newbury
Wharf
The
Trust's shop and café are within the Stone Building on Newbury
Wharf, which lies on the south side of the river between Victoria
Park Bridge and the bridge that carries the A339/Inner Ring Road
over the river.
A large pay-and-display car park and public toilets
are adjacent to the Stone Building.
On sale: good selection of Canal-related
books, maps, souvenirs and gifts. Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches
and cakes, ice creams and sweets. Refreshments can be eaten inside
the building or, weather permitting, outside on the Wharf-side.
The upstairs Meeting Room in the Stone Building
is available for hire.

Aldermaston Wharf
The
Visitor Centre and Shop/Tea-room lies 100 yards to the east of the
Aldermaston swing-bridge that carries the A340 over the canal just
north of Aldermaston. The Shop is operated by the Kennet and Avon
Canal Trust and contains a small canal-related display.
On sale: Canal-related books,
magazines, maps, souvenirs and gifts. Hot and cold drinks, snack,
cakes, ice creams and sweets.
Weather permitting, refreshments can be enjoyed
in the canal-side gardens in front of the shop.

How to Find Us:
If walking, head east along the towpath from the Aldermaston Swing
Bridge. The Visitor Centre is 100 yards along on your left. Arriving
by car, turn east off the A340 about 50 yards north of the Aldermaston
Swing Bridge. The small car park is located directly behind the
Visitor Centre.
