Donations Manager

Ops Director - West

To oversee the K&A Trust trading subsidiary's day to day trading operations at the western end of the Canal

The Job

Reporting to the Managing Director of the Trust's trading subsidiary.
To be the Board Member responsible for directing/managing trading operations at the western end of the Kennet and Avon Canal. To work with other members of the trading subsidiary Board in setting operational policy.

To be responsible for business development within the territory. To own and manage the operating budget for the territory. To manage a small number of paid staff and oversee the management and direction of a large number of volunteers operating boats and shops. Will require about a day a week of commitment initially.

The Person

A leader comfortable with working with a wide range of individuals at all levels in an organisation. Previous experience of working with volunteers desirable. Must have management experience in a retailing/leisure environment and have experience of operating and managing shops and/or other trading outlets. Must be computer and internet literate - willing to travel as required (reasonable travelling expenses will be paid).

Ops Director - Centre

Donations Manager

To develop and manage the K & A Trust's policy and activity as it seeks to maximise the opportunity to obtain tax benefits from donors' charitable giving activities.

The Job

Reporting to the Director of Heritage and Fundraising with dotted line responsibility to the Trust's Treasurer as required. To be the Trust's tier 2 management team member responsible for ensuring that the Trust gets the maximum revenue from exploiting tax efficient ways in which donors can give money to the Trust. This is a brand new role and as such, the initial thrust will be about educating and informing Trustees and those in the management teams in the Charity as a whole, about the opportunities involved and recommending a strategy and policy to underpin the tax efficient donor scheme the Trust wishes to put in place. You will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing such things as the Trust's gift-aid claims process to ensure that the Trust receives a regular income.

The Person

Previous experience of working in the 'Third sector' is highly desirable. Must have a track record for creating innovative solutions to business problems. You must know the law relating to charitable giving or be prepared to spend time becoming familiar with it in order to be effective. You must be at ease dealing with senior management, lawyers and accountants and must be able to deal with the relevant departments at HMRC.
