The AshCon nIR polarised optical sensor is used to measure the fibre and ash proportion of the Whitewater or Thinstock consistency.
Each sensor is factory calibrated on fibre and a filler with direct offset adjustment for simple measurement applications. This saves time for on-site sensor calibration. More complex grade mixes can have up to four grade offset calibrations as well as non-linear adjustment.
A water zero calibration check as well as temperature compensation are used to maintain the stability of the measurement. The sensor has quick-disconnect fittings and is normally used together with our one of our sensor application units (Retention, Whitewater or Effluent).
ionTEK SCD-lite

The measurement of charge demand using an a.c. streaming current detector is a proven method for determining the charge of a colloidal sample.
The SCD-lite takes a process sample each 5-7 minutes and carries out a titration to a zero point. The titrant used (pump pulse count) gives a measure of the charge demand of the process.
Both a cationic and an anionic titration can be carried out. Simple laboratory calibration routines ensure long term sensor repeatability and accuracy.
The use of a large sample volume (1Ltr) with wash and pre-soak sequencing avoids sample contamination. The wash cycle utilises high pressure cleaning sprays to prevent build-up of contaminants.
Products

The AshCon Portable Solids Analyser is designed for use in the wet end of a a paper machine. It is normally used to measure whitewater solids and/or thinstock consistency (fibre/ash) to give a continuous reading of paper machine retention. Best suited for wet-end raw material and additive trial work; the unit is easy to install, set-up and use.
Key features:
· AshCon ACP400 sensor for fibre / ash determination and consistency.
· Factory pre-calibration of sensor for ease of set-up and reliable results.
· Graphical operator interface including calibration, trending & datalogging
· Automated water flush for cleaning and water zero verification
· Sample pump and de-aeration equipment
· Datacomms interface for remote monitoring.
· Lightweight portable unit for ease of transportation and installation

The AshCon nIR polarised optical sensor is used to measure the fibre and solids proportion of low and ultra-low suspended solids process streams of recovered water or effluent.
Each sensor can be factory calibrated on fibre and non-fibre / solids A simple offset adjustment is made for process calibration or it can have grade offset calibrations as well as a non-linear adjustment.
The 25mm bore sensor has two different measurement gaps;
20mm gap for 0-20g/Ltr applications.
100mm gap for 0-500mg/Ltr applications.
An automated cleaning mechanism can be used to maintain the stability of the measurement. The sensor has quick-disconnect fittings for ease of maintenance.
The AshCon nIR optical sensor is used to measure the consistency of fibre furnish streams from 0-5 %Cs (50g/Ltr). It provides an effective alternative to mechanical shear force transmitters, while having many advantages. Applications have included pure fibre streams as well as recycled fibre furnishes provided that the ash content is low or uniform.
Each sensor can be factory calibrated on fibre or different pulp types. A simple offset adjustment is made for process calibration or it can have grade offset calibrations as well as a non-linear adjustment.
20mm gap for 0-50g/Ltr applications.
The sensor has quick-disconnect fittings for ease of maintenance.
An outer sleeve is welded into the pipe wall, into which the measuring head is fitted and clamped. The sensor is normally removed when the process is shutdown.

This AshCon nIR optical sensor is used to measure the consistency or solids content and comes in two forms. The sensor has a rod-type mounting to allow access from open-top vessels or channels. Applications have included pure fibre vessels as well as influent break tanks or drain channels.
Each sensor can be factory calibrated on fibre or different pulp/material types. A simple offset adjustment is made for process calibration. For the digital version (500T) it can have grade offset calibrations as well as a non-linear adjustment.
AC500T 20mm gap for 0-50g/Ltr consistency measurement applications (digital).
AC500D 20mm gap for 0-20g/Ltr solids measurement applications (analog).
The sensor mounting rod can have quick-disconnect fittings for ease of removal.
An internal water/air channel allows a cleaning nozzle to be fitted close the the measurement optics for automated flushing.

HMI Software for Trending (real-time & historical)
Human/Machine Interface (HMI) iFix software from GE Fanuc is used to collect real time measurement data. This is presented to operators or process engineers to follow the operation of the wet end or sub-processes either in real-time or using archived historical data. The HMI displays provide operators with a "heads-up" display of wet end conditions and supplements the existing mill operational (DCS) control stations. Key wet end measurements as well as some additives are logged into the system using remote field inputs. Data can be downloaded from the system into MS Excel for off-line data analysis and reporting.
