There is on going development work with a non-contacting microwave based moisture sensor.
Press Moisture Sensor
Proving trials are underway at a pre-press position (ex-couch) and a post-press position (before dryers) to determine moisture content of the sheet across the production weight range for each application.
The sensors are built to measure 50 - 500 gsm water content.
