In
1961, Comedian Tony Hancock made what was to be his final
BBCTV series with writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson.
Amongst
the guest artistes to appear alongside Hancock in this
series were future Dad's Army stars Clive Dunn
and John Le Mesurier (although not in the same episodes).
Clive
Dunn appeared as a policeman in the episode "The
Radio Ham" who comes to Hancock's aid with a
valve for his radio set, when attempting to respond to
an S.O.S. call.
On
the 1st October 1961, many of the original cast for "The
Radio Ham" (including Clive Dunn) and "The
Blood Donor" reassembled in a recording studio
and recorded, what has become Hancock's most often released
and best selling Long Play.
In
1997, Castle Communications released the album on Compact
Disc in a digitally remastered format. The album remains
an essential purchase for any true fan of British Comedy.
