The 1977 annual followed the standards set by previous annuals, but by now world distributors had well and truly abandoned the use of photographs within the annual, (photo's were used as reference for the illustrations by the books artists).

The cover illustration had previously featured on the back cover of the 1974 annual as a photo (note the absence of James Beck next to Clive Dunn). The book contains the usual dazzling array of stories and cartoon strips as well as features including Private Godfrey's (brief!) Home Guard Diary.
