Cream Tea Run May 31st 2009

1100 start from Whiddon Down Service station

North on B3219 towards North Tawton

Turn left onto A3072 for just over a mile then

Right onto A3124 towards Winkleigh and carry on to Gt Torrington

Join A386 into Gt Torrington looking to turn right into Calf Street on B3227 towards High Bullen and Atherington

Carry on to T-junction with A377 turning right towards Crediton

Look for sharp left onto B3227 towards Umberleigh and South Molton

At the give way in South Molton turn left onto B3226

This meets the A361 at a roundabout – head straight over onto the A399 towards Ilfracombe

After about 12 miles turn right onto A39 towards Lynmouth

After 3-4 miles look for turning on left to Valley of Rocks (the back way in)

Regroup in the Valley of the Rocks at Mother Meldrum's for Cream Tea or pasties!

Optional exploration of Lynton and Lynmouth, photoshoot etc.

Return route from Lynmouth:

Head back up the hill a little and fork left through Hillsford Bridge towards Simonsbath on B3223

Turn left towards Exford before forking right towards Dulverton

Through Dulverton and Exbridge then on to A396 south to Tiverton.

Straight on at the first 2 roundabouts, right at the third, straight on at the fourth

Cross the bridge and TURN RIGHT (as the road bears left) to enter Leat St on the B3137 through Withleigh and Nomansland.

A mile after Nomansland turn left onto B3042 to Chawleigh and Chumleigh

Join the A377 south towards Crediton then turn right onto A3072 heading west towards North Tawton again and thence returning whence we came possibly via a friendly hostelry if anyone knows of one in the area.
