The
Club was built in 1932 and bowling began in May that year and it is considered
one of the most prestigious in the county.
Its membership
is over 80 gentlemen members (including 2 current internationals), 40
lady bowlers and about 100 associate (social) members.
We run the biggest
annual open tournament in the county, which attracts over 500 competitors
every year for two weeks during July/August. Along with supporters and
spectators, it is estimated that nearly 1000 people visit the club during
this fortnight every year.
We enter teams
in all the national and county inter-club competitions and field six different
leagues teams every week throughout the bowling season.
We entertain,
on average, five teams per year visiting our area on tour or for specific
one-off matches. On average, we also hire out our facilities ten times
during the course of the year to other bowling organisations.
All the above
results in more than 2000 people visiting and using our facilities during
the course of the bowling season. |
