The Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank is a project run
by The Friends of the Homeless in Fareham and Gosport, which is a registered
charity. Our aim is to provide short term support and relief to those
who find themselves in a crisis or emergency situation. We do this by
providing a centre where people can visit and be given a food parcel to
last for a period of up to a week. We are also able offer some nappies,
toiletries, toys and children’s clothing, subject to availability.
Our centre is within easy access of Fareham town centre, where people
can come and collect the required items. People may access the service
through one of the many referral agencies in the Fareham and Gosport area
up to four times in one year. This is to prevent them from becoming dependant
on the service and also ensures that we can support as many people as possible.
We rely on the agency to decide the need and to manage the relationship
with their client.
The
group is a registered charity run by volunteers and totally dependant on
donations as we receive no other funding. We appreciate any help that you
may be able to provide either as a volunteer
or by making a donation. Items that are particularly helpful are any tinned
food (particularly meats), coffee, tea, squash, sugar, packet soups, rice,
pasta, biscuits, baby food, toiletries, nappies, toilet rolls, dried milk,
tin openers, washing up liquid, washing powder. No perishable items such
as fresh fruit or vegetables please.
