St Vincent’s School

St Vincent’s is a school for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties with many of the pupils having been excluded from mainstream schools and also marginalised from within their communities.

St Vincent’s is neighbouring Mullan Mews and both have worked together on various intergenerational projects over the last couple of years. Woodwork, art, gardening, cookery and boccia tournaments. This has been jointly driven by the principal Brian Davies and Activities Coordinator Danielle Cummings. Tenants have been invited to school prize giving events and enjoy their interaction with the young people. Likewise the pupils react well to their interaction with tenants.

St. Patrick Celebrations 2010
funded by the Belfast City Council.

This project aims to contribute to a better understanding of St. Patrick, through contextualisation of St Patrick's role in Irish history. The intergenerational project is also aiming to bring these young people together with tenants from Mullan Mews to share experiences and activities and to build relationships and promote social inclusion. This project should be very successful in integrating two very marginalised groups and shall also create a bond that will outlive the life of the project.
