Why develop cardiac rehabilitation services?
Evidence shows that access to cardiac rehabilitation improves the patient’s recovery after a cardiac event such as a heart attack or heart surgery. It also improves their health in the long term. The PCT have gathered a lot of information about cardiac rehabilitation services across Derbyshire and not as many people access this service as they should, despite these health benefits.
The PCT are proposing to develop a cardiac rehabilitation service for patients in Derbyshire that increases access for patients and also provides patients with more choice about what kind of rehabilitation they want.

SHAPING THE FUTURE OF CARE - THE BIG CARE DEBATE
The Government has published Shaping the Future of Care Together, beginning the first ever national debate on the reform of adult care and support in England - the Big Care Debate.
Carers are expressing concern about Government proposals to remove Attendance Allowance (AA) benefits, as part of a wider review of social care services. Both AA and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) offer nationally-set, non-means tested benefits which are often vitally important to Carers.
This is your opportunity to contribute because, otherwise, you’ll be leaving it to others to speak on your behalf and they may not say quite what you want to say or with quite the passion that you might want to say it.
The green paper website reflects what claimants actually do think, rather than what anyone else would like to claim you think.
More information on the Shaping the Future website

The document spells out a vision for a National Care Service, the options for reform, and how the new system could be organised and paid for. The Government is inviting everybody to comment on the reform options and say which ones they would like to see adopted.
The Big Care Debate runs until 13th November and there are several ways in which you can contribute:

CARER REPS NEEDED TO HAVE THEIR SAY
From Andrew Coulson, Performance Review Officer, Adult Social Services, Derbyshire County Council
'As Making Care Personal moves forward and the individual projects develop we are increasingly in need of Service User and Carer reps to come along and join project boards and working groups to have their say on the future of Adult Social Services in Derbyshire. Here in Derbyshire we believe in true co-production and want the people who access our services to tell us how they should be developed and changed to ensure they meet needs and wants of the individual.
We are now looking to increase our pool of representatives, those who work with us and speak up, to help us co-produce Making Care Personal.
To help people get involved Adult Social Services will pay a participation fee, depending on the level of involvement and can also help with travel, sit in carers, sound loops and expenses where necessary.
If you think that you, or anyone who know, might like to get involved and have your say please can you can you get in touch with me.
Should you have any questions or would like to nominate yourself as a rep please don’t hesitate to contact me via email makingcarepersonal@derbyshire.gov.uk
