Tribute to the Cottenham Roller Hockey Club
In the year of the Queen’s Jubilee, the Eastern Counties Roller Hockey Association initiated the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Cup competition. This is a special annual tournament for Roller Hockey players under the age of thirteen.
At this year’s event, the Cottenham Roller Hockey Club really came to my attention because such a young sports club managed to enter, not just one, but two teams into this competition, where they managed very creditable 6th and 11th positions.
Look a little deeper and you will discover that, through the hard work and dedication of the parents and friends, they also had, no fewer than, seven of their players selected for Eastern Counties teams involved in the National Inter-Regional Competition.
They also have six players, selected by the National Coaching Director, to be part of a group going to
Added to this, they have three NRHA Accredited Referees and four NRHA Accredited Coaches.
The season of Roller Hockey is coming to the end for 2007-8 and has finished on a big high for the Cottenham Club as they have just won the Eastern Counties RHA Minors League.
My congratulations must go to them for this and all their achievements since their formation, and I look forward to presenting the E.C. Minors League Trophy and medals to their players at the Eastern Counties Cup Finals and Awards Day taking place at the Bushfields Sports Centre,
Well done Cottenham Roller Hockey Club.
