Housing

Byker Bridge H.A. offers a varied range of supported housing, from shared houses with a residential worker, to single flats with visiting, day time support.

Most of our accommodation is in Newcastle but we also have properties in Gateshead, Forest Hall, Whitley Bay, Blyth, South Shields, Hebburn and Prudhoe.

All of our community houses have a named member of support staff available during normal working hours. Additionally we operate an out of hours, emergency call out system to cover evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

At our accommodation we promote independent living through increasing skills, building confidence and self esteem. We aim to equip people with the skills so if they wish they can move on to independent living. If residents/tenants do not wish to move they can stay with the Association.

Support staff offer advice on benefits and budgeting, help with arranging appointments and maintenance of the property. Staff offer guidance and assistance with cooking and domestic skills. It is the responsibility of the residents to keep their own house clean and tidy.

Shared Supported Accommodation

Byker Bridge Housing Association owns and manages a number of shared housing schemes across Tyneside and South Northumberland. We have a number of properties which house from 3-9 residents, flats with 2 residents and single person flats. There are two types of shared accommodation, those with a Residential Support Worker and those with a Visiting Support Worker.

Support Workers ensure that food is purchased and prepared in the full board houses, that the house is kept clean, tidy and in good repair and that residents comply with the terms of their tenancy/licence agreement. Staff also ensure that residents receive all the advice and help they need to benefit from the accommodation eg. contact with health services, social services or other professional services.

All shared houses are full board, shared and single person flats are self catering.

Single person accommodation

The Association has 50 single person flats with either a Residential or Visiting Support Worker. Single person accommodation is on a self catering basis.

All residents/tenants of the Association benefit from an emergency call out system during evenings/weekends/bank holidays.
