Course objectives

Aimed at those people who are responsible for day to day maintenance of premises and departments, including premises officers, office managers, supported living project managers and deputies, team leaders and safety representatives.
The course will help delegates to understand the basic requirements for electrical safety in the workplace particularly when their role is to supervise and support others helping to contribute towards developing a safety culture.

Course content

Theory of electricity and relevant legislation
Workplace precautions and controls
Visual inspection of equipment
Safe practices when using equipment such as vacuum cleaners, office equipment, power tools and mowers
Portable appliance testing (PAT) what it means and how it works
Electrical FAQs such as:

This course is delivered by John Jackson, a qualified electrician, from Oakley Electrical Ltd

Award

This course is not externally accredited and therefore the content can be adjusted to meet individual requirements. A certificate of attendance will be provided.

Pre course reading

Delegates will be provided with handout material and no pre-course reading is necessary.

Assessment

This qualification is not externally but there will be a 12 question question multiple-choice test at the end of the session.
