Jane Corsellis
Jane Corsellis studied at the Byam Shaw School of
Art in London and has lived in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Canada. She
is a successful artist who exhibits regularly in London at the New
English Art Club and the Royal Watercolour Society. An inspiring new
video (on sale in the Albany Gallery) shows the artist at work in all
weather amidst her landscape subjects of northern France and west Wales.
She is constantly aware of the changes of light and atmosphere, yet
her paintings have a timeless quality - people walking on a beach,
children bathing, fishing boats in a harbour with mist, rain or sun
sweeping along a coast. The tour de force of her work in the exhibition
is a seven-foot wide triptych, "October light from the Preseli Hilts". At the other end of the scale are the small studies she makes more rapidly, to catch changing effects on the landscape
She has had many solo exhibitions in London and abroad, winning several awards and has completed major commissions for Cadburys, Tescos, Freshfields and the London Capital Club. As well as painting still-lifes and scenes of Brighton, Rome and France, she also portrays the park-life of London.
