Cerri Auckland Davies
Cerri Auckland Davies was born in
West Wales in 1951. He studied at Newport College of Art and Birmingham
Polytechnic.
Since 1992 he has been working in egg tempera on board, mixing all
his own paints from pure pigment. The quick drying nature of the medium
allows
many thin layers of paint to build up quickly achieving a distinct
luminosity in his work. The quality of egg tempera allows him to create
the atmospheric
effects that portray the varying moods of his landscapes.
Where land meets water has become a recurrent theme in his work. This
is explored in shapes and textures seen along the coastlines of Wales,
which are a constant source of inspiration for his work.
