Was born in Yorkshire of Scottish parents in 1923 and spent
the most memorable years of his childhood in the west of
Scotland. He studied painting under James

the age of forty, when he left dentistry to make a living as a full time painter.
A member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, he was formerly a member of the Royal
Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Royal Society of Marine Mists, and
the Pastel Society. He came to live and work in North Wales in 1952 and first
