OTHER CLUBS

Newbury Yacht Club offers our members a warm welcome at their meetings (as we welcome them to ours). They gather on the second Thursday of each month, 7.45 pm, at their meeting place, the Langdon Room at Newbury Sports Arena (Newbury Rugby Club), Monks Lane, near the Tesco roundabout South of Newbury on the old A34. If you intend to visit, ring their Secretary, Sheila Wilson, on 01635 200768 or Rob Crispin, on 01635 200512.
They always run an interesting programme, and I can vouch for their hospitality to WHCC members. We will keep you posted about their programme as we learn it.

Henley Offshore Group operates at Henley Rugby Club in a similar way to us, but unfortunately often clashes, in that we often both choose the same day-of-the-month. They are welcoming to visitors. For details, contact their Commodore, Clive Williams (mail@clivewilliams.co.uk)

Oxford Sailing Club is a very active sailing club based at Farmoor Reservoir near Oxford. They have about 650 member most of whom are dinghy sailors. There is however a growing number of the membership who also cruise in yachts. Indeed, the club now has two 25' cruisers for training and RYA courses are available.

Abbey Sailing Club - probably the closest club to WHCC base in East Hanney, long established club which sails on the Thames near Abingdon.
