Bottom Sampler BTMS 101
44m Ø, 420ml Capacity - Brass

Applications
Our BTMS samplers provide the ideal tool for obtaining liquid samples from the bottom (or at a specified distance from the bottom) of a tank or reservoir. They are used to look for evidence of water underneath oil or fuel, for example, and can take samples from the fuel/water interface, for detecting microbial growth.

They can also be used to check the condition of the bottom of a tank, and to look for corrosion. They can be used to look for pollution in reservoirs or contamination in storage vessels.

In fact, wherever there is a need to check the contents at or near the bottom of a tank or reservoir, the BTMS sampler meets the need. It gives information that cannot be obtained reliably by tank-side sampling, for example.

In operation, the sampler remains sealed and empty as it is lowered into the liquid, until the “leg” contacts a solid surface (usually the bottom of the tank). The valve at the bottom of the sampler then opens, and the sampler fills. Air escapes through a non-return valve at the top of the sampler.

The protrusion of the leg can be adjusted, so that the sampler can take its sample from a predetermined height above the tank bottom.

As the sampler is lifted, the valve re-seals, ensuring that the sample is retained and not diluted on its way up through the liquid. The sampler therefore obtains true samples. It can take samples from any depth, as it is unaffected by outside pressure.
