Case Study
We have now completed the
construction of a
30 x 60 arena for a brand new equestrian enterprise at
Hemingford Abbots near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

This is a picture of the field before work commenced. The
turf and topsoil needed removing before a level base could be formed.

The access road needed some attention before lorries could
deliver the necessary materials. A drain was installed along the edge of
the road to cope with run-off from the field.

The ground has been levelled and
the drains installed. The crushed rock base is being laid.

The crushed rock has been spread and is now ready to be
graded to form a completely flat, level base.
The fence posts are
concreted in and the first kickboard has been installed. An extra drain
has also been installed at the top end of the arena to deal with any water
run-off from the field beyond.

The sand was laid and then compacted to a depth of 110mm

With the rubber laid over the sand, and graded using the 'Manege Mate' the
surface was now finished.
The gate was installed and the last few remaining rails completed.
The final task was to inspect the arena and surroundings to ensure no
rubbish was left behind.

The arena now needs approximately one and a half inches of rain to
complete the compaction process and be ready to use.
Many thanks to Stuart and Claire.
We have enjoyed this project immensely and look forward to visiting again
in the future.
