It is a fact that the Rotary Foundation appears to many Rotarians as complicated, confusing and boring.

I am continuing to chair our Foundation Committee during the coming year so  I have gritted my teeth, propped open my eyes and continue to spread the message that, under all of the complexities lies the simple fact that Rotary Foundation is Rotary’s own charity and it is entirely dependant upon voluntary contributions, most of which are provided by Rotarians, either as personal contributions or as a result of fund raising activities.

Basically, money is required to support three funds –

  1. The Annual Programmes Fund, this supplies money for Educational and Humanitarian programmes.

  1. The Permanent Fund, a fund whose principle is never spent and the investment earnings are channeled in to other programmes

  1. The Polio Plus Fund, dedicated to the total worldwide eradication of polio.

This year, whilst we will continue to offer our practical support to visiting Ambassadorial and Peace Scholars, assist where ever we can in the Group Study Exchange scheme, we should concentrate our main efforts towards the simple, uncomplicated, but not always easy, task of raising much needed cash for Rotary Foundation.

There are a number of ways we hope to raise money for Foundation and we hope that many will be able to support us, details will be include on the Website when we have further details

  1. Holding one special event to raise money specifically for Foundation.

  1. Supplement this by encouraging members to purchase Rotary calendars, Christmas cards and the like.

  1. Selling unwanted gifts on through EBay.

So if you want to help us raise money for our Foundation Charity we look forward to your support
