2008 Events announced

 

This year's Clarendon events will be on Sunday 5th October 2008

 

Once again, and due to popular demand, the races will run from Salisbury to Winchester

IMPORTANT IMPROVEMENTS FOR 2008 EVENTS

  • Entry forms will not be posted out, but emailed instead (or you can download them from this site)
  • The entry forms have been redesigned and produced in a format that you can type in your details
  • Race numbers and FREE pins will be mailed out before the race to reduce queues on the day
  • T-shirts and medals will be handed out as you cross the finish line - no more long queues in sports halls
  • The bottleneck in King's Somborne will be widened by Hampshire County Council

Parking – Full Mar. Start Salisbury

Please use Culver Street car park. This is only a 5 minute walk from the start. Salisbury District Council have kindly agreed this to be FREE! So please DON’T place any money in the machines. There is also a limited amount of parking at St Martins School, Shady Bower Road just across the road from the start.

Car Parking – Finish venue - Winchester

Please access only from the Romsey road NOT from Old Sarum road which will be used only for the race and for local residents! Car parking will be available (until full) at the school, and thereafter in the County Hospital multi-storey (as signed). Please allow 15 minutes walk if parking at the hospital.

Car Parking – Half Mar. Broughton

All Half Marathon parking must please be in the field kindly lent to us at Church Farm, Buckholt Lane. This is accessed from the B3024 which is the main road coming from the A30.
IMPORTANT By request of the residents and for the future of arrangements in Broughton Please do not park in the high street or in the rear of the village hall Please follow signs and marshals Please allow 10 minutes to walk to the hall from the car park .

FAO Relay Teams: Please remember to hand over the band to your relay team member at the transition points.

Relay Transition Point 1.

Car Parking Relay Team - Middle Winterslow Distance approx. 6.3 miles miles: Middle Winterslow Rec. Park. Grid Ref. 237 329 OS Map 184 Take A30 between Stockbridge & Salisbury. Turn into road opposite the Pheasant Hotel sign-posted Middle Winterslow. Follow signs to Middle Winterslow. Close to the Lord Nelson Arms pub take footpath opposite Central Stores Shop into Recreation Park where there is a D/S. Please park in sports field after passing shop. Look for signed areas Beware of runners crossing road!!

Relay Transition Point 2.

Car Parking – Relay Marathon Broughton All relay marathon parking must be at the Doctor's surgery on School Lane. From the A30 please follow signs for Relay transition car park Please allow 5 mins. to walk to the transition point. IMPORTANT: By request of the residents and for the future of arrangements in Broughton please do not park in the high street. Distance from start 12.6: Grid Ref. 309 330 OS Map 185 Location is in Rectory Lane oppo. the Greyhound P.H. on the corner of the main street. Please note that the transition point in Broughton NOT the same as the Start of the Half Marathon.

Relay Transition Point 3.

Car Parking-Relay - Farley Mount Please park in parking areas in the vicinity Distance 20.1 miles: Farley Mount Monument Car Park (D/S) Grid Ref. 407 293 OS Map 185. Proceed to Stockbridge along A30 and turn right to Kings Somborne and then follow to Farley Mount. Please beware that you will have to cross the flow of runners before finding a car park. Other option is take the road through Sparsholt but again you will have to cross the flow of runners at Ham Green . TIP: One option is to drop the team runner off here before the race so as you are not delayed in getting to him and collect the runner who stopped here later

Directions to the Start of the Marathon
For all directions into and around Salisbury please consult enclosed map. Please see above for parking.

Directions to the Start of the Half Marathon
Approximately 3kms outside Stockbridge, on the A30, in the direction of Winchester, take the road sign-posted Broughton. After parking your car in the parking areas proceed into the village and the village hall can be found on the right hand side after passing two pubs. Please follow signs and marshals Please see above for parking.

Directions for the Finish venue or just ask for the Kings’ School, Romsey Road, Winchester Please see above for parking.
