To get the best out of your hi-fi system we advise you do the following:
Cables
Always use good quality interconnect and speaker cables. They are an important part of your system and should be chosen with great care.
Orelle recommends high-quality Wireworld cables. www.wireworldaudio.co.uk.
Always route the mains cable under all the other cables.
Do not intertwine one set of cables with another and dont jumble speaker and interconnect cables together.
Equipment support/racks
Equipment support also has an influence the performance of the hi-fi system, choose with care. Orelle prefer those which provide a rigid platform. Take advice, the best equipment support/racks for you depend on the structure of your home. For example the type of floor, is it a suspended wooden floor or a concrete one?
Room acoustics
When the maximum performance is required from a system the furnishings are very important. Too much soft furnishing will deaden the sound in the room while hard floors and blinds will enliven the room environment.
Loudspeaker placement
Experiment with positioning to get the optimum performance from your system. Placing your loudspeaker closer to wall will increase the perceived amount of bass you get from your system and dont place them to near to side walls which will cause extra reflections and ruin stereo imaging and placement. Always ensure that the loudspeaker is rigidly mounted use spikes or cones.
Mains filters
Filters should be used with extreme care as we have found that most change the sound but dont actually improve it. Mains filters can sometimes bring out more detail but most cause dynamic compression and make the system sound sterile.
Tuning devices (cones, damping pads & etc.)
Tuning devices on Orelle equipment should be used with extreme caution. Because of the way the equipment is designed, many tuning devices actually make it sound far worse. Some do work however and so you must approach the subject with extreme caution.
