Hlunnindi - Peripheral Resources

In past centuries, the peripheral resources attaced to a farm or community were a vital source of income and often meant the difference between poverty and relative prosperity. Today's farmers still have exclusive rights to exploit the 'hlunnindi' or peripheral resources on their land.

These photographs were taken during September 2000 whilst undertaking an artist in residency at the Gil Society studio-workshop, Akureyri, Northern Iceland and a vist to Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands) in August 2001.
